About the Event

Today’s students are not just preparing for careers—they’re preparing to shape the future. Project-Based Learning (PBL) has long been a powerful approach to help students develop real-world skills, deep disciplinary knowledge, and a sense of purpose. Our recent work reveals something even more profound: when guided well, PBL can also foster self-efficacy—the belief that students can make a meaningful impact.

As artificial intelligence transforms the educational landscape, we face a pivotal question: will it diminish the human experience of learning, or elevate it?

In this talk, we share how thoughtfully integrated AI can enhance PBL in flipped classrooms—personalizing learning, amplifying engagement, and empowering students to lead their own journeys. Drawing on results from an experimental course, we show what’s possible when emerging technologies meet student-driven learning. The future of education is not about replacing the teacher—it’s about reimagining what students can become.

Join us for this webinar featuring John McNeill, Dean of WPI’s School of Engineering; Koksal Mus, Professor of Teaching in Electrical and Computer Engineering; and students from an experimental offering of Professor Mus’s course—where AI and Project-Based Learning came together to spark deeper engagement, innovation, and student-led discovery.
